Welcome to Hands On Charlotte!

Hands On Charlotte leads volunteers in community service projects that we create and manage for the benefit of dozens of local nonprofit agencies, schools, neighborhoods, and community organizations. Once you have an account with us and attended orientation (see below) you can sign up for projects on our project calendar

GETTING STARTED

Basic Volunteer Facts

  • A long-term commitment is not required.
  • Our modle is designed to be flexible volunteering, find things that work with your schedule.
  • We have service projects for the whole family. These projects are designated family-friendly
  • Sample many different projects and find out which ones are right for you.
  • Long-term commitments and leadership roles are available. Just e-mail us for more information.

ADULTS: All adult volunteers (18+ years of age) who want to participate in any of our ongoing volunteer projects must first attend a new volunteer orientation session. Orientation is not necessary for teenagers, or for adults who only wish to participate in Special Events or in our monthly BIG Project.

CHILDREN & TEENS: Youth between the ages of 14 and 19 can participate in our CharlotTEEN Youth volunteering program, which provides service opportunities specifically for teenagers. These teens do not have to attend an orientation before volunteering. Once they have registered on this web site, they can sign up for any project that contains the word "CharlotTEEN" in the project name. Youth under the age of 14, as well as teenagers who want to participate in non-CharlotTEEN projects, can only volunteer at those projects if they are accompanied by a parent or guardian. Thus, the parent or guardian must attend a new volunteer orientation, and he/she can bring the child to the volunteer project if space permits.

ORIENTATIONS

We offer an online and in person orientation. In person orientations take place at the Hands On Charlotte office at 1616 Central Avenue Suite 200, unless noted. If you sign up and then need to reschedule, please contact the Hands On Charlotte office, as we have a limited number of seats for each session.

If you have volunteered with Hands On Charlotte in the past you may not need to attend an orientation session. Please contact Doug at 704 333-7471 ext. 103 and ask for a password to activate your account.

Once you have completed orientation and have received your password to the HOC web site, just follow these easy steps to volunteer:

1. Log onto the HOC web site and view the Project Calendar.
2. Click on the project's link to get more information.
3. Sign up for the project online.
